Pizza Take 2

Ironically, the same night that I posted the first pizza recipe - my brother, his girlfriend and I decided we were going to make our own pizzas in my brothers apartment. We took a quick trip to Whole Foods and bought all the necessary ingredients for this delicious dinner we had been anticipating since the minute we decided we were too tired to go out. In our basket we found some vegetables, mozzarella cheese, Harissa, and some classic marinara sauce. We made our own little adaptions to the sauce and the recipe is as follows:
1 cup bottle sauce
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 Serrano pepper, chopped finely
2 teaspoons Harissa
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon chilli powder
salt and pepper to taste
In a sauce pan, add some oil, about a tablespoon or so and the garlic and let it start to brown. After the garlic browns add in the pepper and let them soak in the oil and continue to brown together. Add the sauce in but make sure to turn the heat down so it doesn’t splash onto you! Turn the heat back up and let the mixture start to boil – it might make it easier to throw on a lid so it can start to thicken as well. Once the sauce has started to come together a little more add the harissa and the garam masala and the chili powder, mix it thoroughly and make sure to taste it! Add salt, pepper or any of the spices according to your own tastes.

For the veggies, we decided to go on a green spree; we used asparagus, broccoli and spinach. We put them in a brownie pan and drizzled some olive oil on top, added some salt and pepper just to make sure they weren’t super boring. Give them about 15 minutes in an oven at about 350 and they’ll be a little under cooked – just perfect to throw on the pizza before that goes in the oven.
We bought fresh mozzarella and cut it into slices and threw it onto the pizza before it was completely ready for the oven.

The pizza took about 20 or so minutes in the oven at about 350F, check on it every so often just to make sure you’re getting it to the crispiness that you like. Enjoy!
